Applications & expertise

Where slurry behaviour decides the result.

The same discipline — formulation, rheology, prediction and forming — applied to three material fields. Each review starts from one defined problem and the decision you need to make.

01 · ENERGY

Battery electrode slurries

Electrode quality is set in the mixer. Dispersion of active material and conductive additive, solids loading and binder state decide whether a slurry coats evenly and dries without defects.

Typical questions

  • Coating weight or thickness varies across the web or between batches
  • Viscosity drifts during storage or after a raw-material change
  • Agglomerates, pinholes or cracking after drying
  • How far solids loading can rise before coatability suffers

Review focus

  • Flow-curve and yield-stress interpretation against the coating method
  • Dispersion state and mixing sequence
  • Prediction-vs-measurement residuals to separate material from process causes

02 · CERAMICS

Ceramics & coatings

From tape and slip casting to functional coatings, the green body or wet film inherits the slurry’s flaws. Wetting, surfactants and particle packing shape thickness, density and shrinkage.

Typical questions

  • Uneven coating thickness across operating conditions or runs
  • Green-body cracking, warping or uneven shrinkage
  • Settling or viscosity change over pot life
  • Which evaluation metric really represents the problem

Review focus

  • Evaluation metrics and structured process comparisons
  • Wetting and surfactant-related factors where relevant
  • Packing, solids loading and dispersant selection

03 · POROUS MATERIALS

MOF & porous materials

Porous powders such as metal–organic frameworks must be shaped into pellets, extrudates or coatings before they work in a process. Binders and paste rheology decide how much porosity survives.

Typical questions

  • Paste formulation for extrusion or granulation
  • Surface-area loss after shaping
  • Mechanical strength versus pressure drop
  • Coating porous powders onto monoliths or substrates

Review focus

  • Binder and solids-loading windows
  • Paste yield stress and extrudability
  • Measurements that link shaping steps to retained porosity

A defined output

What a review can help you decide.

  1. 01Which evaluation metric best represents the problem?
  2. 02What does the available evidence show — and not show?
  3. 03Which causes deserve investigation first?
  4. 04What measurements or comparisons would guide the next decision?

Scope boundaries

What is not automatically included.

  • Laboratory testing, on-site troubleshooting or production operation
  • Guaranteed root-cause identification or yield improvement
  • Regulatory approval, accredited certification or engineering sign-off
  • Material procurement or a guaranteed replacement formulation

Additional work is considered separately, only where the expertise, information and resources are suitable.
